The Lost Art Of... Hologram Fashion
Just amazing that's all I can say.
This Burberry Beijing event was shot on 13th April 2011 using a Hologram Runway. Watch if you have time or skip to about mark 12:00 to see where the real magic takes place. I think the show was certainly a look into the future expect to see many more hologram fashion shows and concerts taking place. But are we as a society wasting too much money on gimmicks and tricks when there are so many people in the world who need help?

The Lost Art Of... Colour Blocking
We decided to do a shoot based on a recent fashion trend of colour blocking. What is colour blocking? You might ask. Well it is the cooperation of 2 or more colours in an ensemble; the colours can be contrasting, complimentary, muted, pastel, monotone or just bright. This is however, not a fashion trend that has just started this year alone it has been seen throughout the years particularly the 1980’s and 1990’s. But, this is 2011 and it has definitely brightened many wardrobes for this season. We wanted to do a shoot based around the idea of an “Ode to Colour” as we all have various different sizes and shapes we decided to wear items that showed our personalities as well as showed off our best assets.
Giovanna: As I am a bit of a chunky munky loool, I opted to team up a blue-ish /purple-ish dress with a red, green and multi-coloured jacket. The overall effect this had on my body is that a darker colour down the torso has a slimming effect and can easily be created so never fear. I put a pair of cherry pink converses with my little ensemble, just because converse’s make any outfit seem casual and relaxed.
Lia: We took inspiration from the fashion that was present at this time, "miss matching" bright vibrant colours that bounce of each other when worn together such as bright blue top and orange peg leg trousers. The outfits put together for the shoot were very eye catching and some maybe eye sores lol but some could be worn out during day to day activities when executed well. We looked at adding beads and head scarves as well as large earrings to bring out the colours even more. Overall I think colour blocking works for some members of TLAO but not me lol.
Pearl: The colour blocking shoot was hard for to find an outfit as this kind of theme was the ish two years ago and I still had a few item left in my wardrobe lol. But I think now that it was back in fashion I would wear this style as it’s a been there down that moment and my personal style has changed. But it was fun to play dress in bright complementary colours.

The Lost Art Of... Punk
The Punk movement started in London during the 1970’s as a result of an initial spark started by the Sex Pistols were an English punk rock band that formed in London in 1975. Even with just 2 albums they heavily impacted the music we listen to today. In terms of Punk fashions Vivienne Westwood is the most common name you are likely to hear in connection to the punk movement as it was from her store that the Sex Pistols were styled.
Black is the predominant shade as well as the corner stone of elaborate make-up for both men and women. The use of occult and horror imagery is prevalent on T-shirts, buttons, patches and jewellery. Other common adornments include band names painted on jackets or bleached into clothes, as well as buttons or patches. Punks would cut up old clothes from charity and thrift stores, destroyed the fabric and created outfits that were designed to attract attention. We felt inspired to do something in this style as Punk Rock is still very influential around London and can be seen in the many ways people dress and in the music we listen to. Take a look at how we paid homage.

_______________________________________________________________The Lost Art Of... Tribal Prints
Tribal prints are in this Fall/Autumn and are in the majority of high street stores. I went to Oxford Street to find a few items for my wardrobe and picked up a bag from Forever 21 (£22.50) and a top (£11.50), which is really cheap. The bold colours are very striking but the patterns complements the shape. I brought a pair of leggings from H&M (£9.99) and I love the colour scheme and the simplicity of the colours used, although I think that if they added anymore colours to it would look to a bit too wild. But I think they are going to be very popular in the streets.

The Lost Art Of... The American Thrift Store
Okay so whilste being in America I decided to visit a thift store as I heard that the thrift stores in the US were much better then the ones we have in London…. Well that assumption was completely correct. It was just the best the size scale of the store was crazy big in comparison to the ones in London.
Okay so they had everything there all the vintage clothes you could want from tops to bottoms books to music just nearly everything really. So if your like me and you love vintage fashion like me defiantly hit up a thrift store you will be sure to find something great for your money go and explore!
I really enjoyed it there and got a lot of great buys, I defiantly have to return .

The Lost Art Of... 50's Fashion
F is for the Fifties, after a while of watching some old fashioned movies such as “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and “Carmen Jones” which starred some fantastically styled ladies namely Dorothy Dandridge and Audrey Hepburn. Inspiration was coming from all angles at us; so we eventually centred on the idea of doing a 50’s inspired Photo shoot.
We researched photographers from that era that took some amazing shots of women in their 1950’s attire. Bert Hardy is a British photographer used black and white photography to show everyday life around the UK in our shoot you should hopefully be able to see some of his influences.
Key things to remember about creating a 50’s inspired look are, skirts knee length or whatever suits your personality, simple peep toe shoes or the classic stiletto. A shirt matched with a dress, perhaps with the addition of a thin waist belt. Accessories are a necessity (I know, so cheesy loool). Click here to see photos of our 50's inspired shoot.By Giovanna P.

The Lost Art Of... Portobello Road
We recently went to the world’s largest antique outlet. Portobello Road. If you happen to be, a vintage/thrift store enthusiast. They have an array of clothing for men and women, bags, antiques and jewellery. You name it they have it just for you.
Roaming along Portobello Road and also knowing we are looking out for unconventional goodies, we spotted a young lady with a gorgeous overnight Moroccan Tribal bag. This began our mission to find the store she had brought it from. The name of the store is Kasbah Bazaar. Not only did they have the bag we saw the young lady with, we also saw backpacks, side bags and satchels that could be found on In any prestigious store along Regent Street. The Moroccan theme was quite evident in the shop, the incense was strong and the prices ranged from £45-£250. So, if you feel that you deserve a treat (as we all do sometimes) take a trip to the store and invest in one of these leathery tribal titbits’.
